The Golightly Arsonist

Go lightly,
Through these burning walls
Mad young man, masked
Darkness in hand.
Go quietly,
Down
Through these long halls,
Possessing of everything you want.
For screaming is the trip
That–laughing–carries you away
Out beyond the lock,
Unknown til gone,
And looking back,
You relish what you lost.

Go lightly,
This is a crumbling fixative,
Fear growing old into strength
Alone and in waste,
Asleep against a shattering glass
That aches, in falling.
Go quietly,
Across
This field of shivering dust,
A prickly insulation
Of finely taught trust,
A map drawn on precarious situations,
Effortless, In vain,
Manipulations.
Which could be art
If you…

Go lightly,
Through these burning walls,
And wear the mask of not knowing at all,
But go…
Because you do not know what you are standing on.
